    Shake some table salt between layers to stop slip sliding around when laminating, works well.

    THe construction of pianos, of which several good videos exist on UA-cam, would have been quite informative. This could have been done a little more easily, but you are enjoying the process, and that's good.

    I was thinking... save all the sawdust and compress into decent-sized pellets held together with rice glue or some other purely organic material, and use for a wood pellet stove...

    Well... for starers, I would have done it differently by purchasing glue wih a longer open tine. 2nd, would have used a pioece of wood so those clamps dont mar the piece.

    If you built two jigs palce them opposite each other (like a circle)and used a ratchet strap to bend two sides in a circle using less boards you could do them faster.

  • @mslil40

    why not steam bend them??

  • @AndyUK-Corrival
    @AndyUK-Corrival 10 днів тому

    Curious why you did not steam bend them, leave in the jig to cool then glue up a day or two later. Less spring back, if any at all and easier to clamp.

    It's a good idea to nail a strip of plywood to the blocks to even out the force on the oak so you won't get any end-grain imprinted on the inside face.

    I would have used marine epoxy for the arches and used a dowel pin in the top dead center of the arch to control the movement.

    Voldemort wanted 6 horcruxes. :-) He intended to split his soul into 7 pieces, so 6 horcruxes and the 7th segment of his soul staying in his body. Harry was the unintentional 7th horcrux, thus he split his soul into 8 pieces. I'm know, I'm being "that guy." Love your videos. Can't wait to see the end result!

    I can't help but notice that when making cuts you tend to go large (depth). Myself, I would consider 2 or 3 passes. It would cut down on binding and burning. Aloha, Terry.

    It is remarkable you master your physical craft when suffering from autoimmune restrictions. My mother developed it in later life and now my daughter has it. She is trying tailored bio medication which helps and is enabling her work to continue. Your determination to complete your projects is humbling. Keep well your videos give great pleasure. We are eager for more but we understand the limitations.

    I have to ask. Why not simply use steam bending? Its been used for hundreds of years and is very simple.
